Blockface data from the TreesCount! 2015 Street Tree Census, conducted by volunteers and staff organized by NYC Parks & Recreation and partner organizations. Blockface data includes tree counts and data collection status by block. Accompanying street tree data is available, indicating tree-level details such as tree species, size and other characteristics.

Safety-oriented engineering improvements that use multiple treatments (signals, markings, concrete etc) on both corridors and intersections. Improvements are generally aimed at better organizing traffic, improving travel times, creating shorter, safer pedestrian crossings, and safe routes for bicycle travel. The map displays operational (non-capital) projects from 2009 to YTD. Location of DSNY garages. Essential to DSNY operations are our 59 garages across the five boroughs. This structure enables the Department’s uniformed personnel to efficiently perform regular duties – and quickly execute emergency response. This dataset captures all water features within NYC Parks. It combines the State’s hydrography layer with known water fountains. Made for cartographic purposes, the attribute data isn’t as maintained as the geometry.

This data tracks the blocks that have been planted through NYC Parks’ street tree block planting program, a major component of the MillionTreesNYC initiative. When a block planting is completed for specific street segment, all available and appropriate locations for street tree installation have been planted. This dataset is based on the Citywide Street Centerline data.

In order to appropriately manage City parks and allocate resources, NYC Parks has implemented three tiers of management [below the Borough level]. These three tiers can be represented as administrative geographic boundaries and are defined below:

District - One or more parks that are combined and generally align with New York City Community Boards.

Sector - One or more Park Districts that are combined in order share resources for daily maintenance.

Region - One or more Park Sectors that are combined and assigned a regional managers who provides high-level, strategic planning and support for Parks managers, including maximizing resources between Districts and Sectors.

Archive description: Directory of Schoolyard to playground conversions

● One line of data represents a single geographic area for which an event permit can be requested in the Citywide Event Management System (CEMS).
● Data was digitized in desktop GIS in consultation with borough permit offices.
● Data is updated when changes are requested by the borough permit offices.
● Along with this dataset, the Athetlic Facilities dataset are sent to CEMS
● Spaces not outlined in this dataset are not available for permitting

Atomic polygons serve as a set of basic building blocks for generating the polygons of many of the district types represented in the CSCL database. Feature classes such as election district, school district, census block, FDNY administrative company, and community district can be dissolved by combining the appropriate fields in atomic polygons.

Citywide street tree data from the 2005 Street Tree Census, conducted partly by volunteers organized by NYC Parks & Recreation. Trees were inventoried by address, and were collected from 2005-2006. Data collected includes tree species, diameter, condition.

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) builds and manages bicycle facilities across the five boroughs, alongside other City agencies, New York State, and external partners. This dataset contain records of the current and historic network of designated bicycle routes and facilities, including bicycle facility type and relevant street information represented as line segments. Day Care Center

Larger NYC parks (generally >20 acres) are subdivided into smaller sections that make inspecting these parks feasible and efficient.  These sections are called "zones."   The size and boundaries usually conform to one or more of the following criteria:  Zones should be inspectable in 1-2 hours; zone boundaries should follow the park’s features (paths, tree lines, etc) whenever possible; and/or conform to pre-existing boundaries used to divide the park for maintenance; and/or define a cohesive area within the park (ballfields, wooded areas, etc).  Besides zones, this layer contains a handful of Sitting Areas that are part of larger parks but could not be defined as zones due to their smaller size.

Privately owned public spaces, also known by the acronym POPS, are outdoor and indoor spaces provided for public enjoyment by private owners in exchange for bonus floor area or waivers, an incentive first introduced into New York City’s zoning regulations in 1961. This database contains detailed information about each privately owned public space in New York City.
